Ways To Sow the Seed of God's Wordby Mary E. Stephens Tracts are great, and they definitely have their place, but sometimes the message just isn't as clear as I'd like it to be, or the Bible verses are skimpy. I've even seen tracts with not actual verses written out in them. The thing is, only God's word has the promise that it will not return void - empty. So, if we want to have fruit, one good way is get God's word out there. Isaiah 55:6-11 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. In the book Jungle Pilot (by Russel T. Hitt) about Nate Saint, there is a quote by Nate where he points out that even though he might not do very great things for God, he could carry a bag of seed with a "hole" in it and scatter the seed everywhere he went. He was speaking figuratively about spreading God's word. This is about that. Here are some ways to get God's word out there. This list is my own list, written in for the March writing challenge 2026. Your list might look different than mine, and that's ok. Let the Lord show you how you can work some "seed scattering" into your own life. 1. Add verses to letter and greeting cards. 2. Use verses in the footer or closing or emails. 3. Carry Bible verse cards to hand to people who serve or otherwise help you in public places. (You can purchase them or hand make them.) 4. Add verse cards to greeting cards, letters, bills, etc. 5. Give verse cards out randomly to people as you feel led. 6. Keep some spare Bibles on hand to give to people if an opportunity arises where they seen to be really interested in having their own copy. Get them in varying price ranges to use as the situation indicates. Cheap ones for situations where the person may not actually read it. Nicer ones for those really wanting a Bible, or maybe specifically a King James Version of the Bible, because they don't have one. 7. Use Bible verses on handmade greeting cards and artwork rather than the greeting specific to the occasion. This way the recipient can frame or display it if they want to. 8. Post scripture on your social media. 9. Speak God's word to people in situations where it is appropriate to the context. It doesn't even matter if they know the words are scripture in the swiftness of the moment. God's promise holds true. If He's sending the word forth through you, it will not return void. [Never, NEVER use it maliciously or in a railing manner. Romans 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. (Emphasis added.) REMEMBER: James 2:12-13 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.] 10. Add stickers with Bible verses to the insides and/or outsides of greeting cards. If you buy a "Christian" greeting card that has another translation of the Bible in it, sticker verses can be added over the ones inside the card. (The ones I often see are printed small on the left inside of cards, where they would be easy to cover with a KJV verse sticker.)
