Excuses, Excuses

Luke 14:18 And they all with
one consent began to make excuse...

Some of the excuses that the "liberated" women come up with for wearing immodest apparel are almost too absurd to imagine. But, since they do present them as legitimate and reasonable, we will deal with some here. Sadly, some of these women are so full of their own error that it is impossible to reason with them, though they consider themselves reasonable.

2Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

In dealing with the excuse making crowd it is essential to keep in mind the admonition we are given, Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:17-18

It is sad, but many of the woman who have boldly and brazenly taken up the cause of immodest apparel fall into these categories. We must consider whether they can even be helped, or if they have disqualified themselves by their own choices from even hearing the truth from us any more.

Acts 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

Though this is being said in relation to salvation, there is a time when people judge themselves unworthy to hear the truth at our lips any more. We must then stop wasting our time and God's message on them and move on to those who will hear.

When we point out their unreasonableness and their unloving behavior, they will accuse us of being unloving and unreasonable and even defame us to others as we see happened in Acts 13:50-51 - But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. We are required by them to accept their foolish speaking (often without answering with scripture), while they repeatedly wrest the scriptures or even blaspheme the word of God. These are railers and idolaters (they worship themselves) and we have a clear command regarding such.

1Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Now, as a word of caution, we are not talking here about the women who simply wear pants and do not blaspheme the word of God with their excuses and rail on other women for their convictions. It is true that there are some women who simply wear pants and immodest apparel who quietly mind their own business. We are not talking about them on this page! We are only discussing here the women that vigorously defend their "rights", especially with a mean spirit!

As the old time evangelist Sam Jones said, "Whenever you see me with a grubbing-hoe on my shoulder I'm out after grubs, and if you ain't a grub sit still -- I'm not after you.  Do you catch the idea?"
